High and Low inputs in guitar amps?

Here's a dumb question I just thought of.

I've got a Roland JC-120 with high and low inputs. Which one do I use if I go from Guitar---> Pedals---> Amp? Do I use the low input if I'm running pedals in front of the amp?

Or is it for a different reason?

Can someone please tell me the purpose for low and high inputs in this amp?

low input has less 'gain' how they like to call it. it is maybe usable if you have a high output guitar with a lot of noise or you want a smoother, not screechy sound. i always use high input though.
