Highest action ever!!

Put a "high nut" on my Tele. I'm going to experiment with playing it like a lap steel, heavy steel bar and all. Anyone else messed around with this?

Re: Highest action ever!!

I like slide, but I've never tried anything that radical. Let us know how it turns out... clips?

Re: Highest action ever!!

That looks about like the action on my first guitar that I learned how to play on....lol

Re: Highest action ever!!

Talk about high plains drifter…don't think you could do much other than play laptop steel style. I've raise action before to play slide…but I'm thinking acrophobia as in Hitchkock's Vertigo.

Re: Highest action ever!!

Never seen those high-nuts before. I want one! Been messing around with slide a little bit recently. I am still pretty rubbish at it but i wouldn't mind having a guitar purposely set up for it.

Re: Highest action ever!!

I used to put one (extension nut) on an old Eko acoustic i had many years ago, and lay the guitar on my lap and play in open tunings with a lap steel player's bar. Mine are made from thin folded steel, and tend to leave marks on the wood, yours looks like that issue has been addressed to some degree by using thicker material.

You'll love experimenting with the bar angles you can get when you play it on your lap, lots of interesting chord fragments and inversions become possible. Have fun with it !

Re: Highest action ever!!

I play a lot of slide, but I play bottle neck style. My action on all my guitars is naturally high enough for slide but not uncomfortable (at least not to me)

Cigarettes are bad for your health so maybe the next anti-smoking campaign could be centered on your guitar.
