I had a pup to replace my bridge in my Les Paul a while back when we took it off it measured frikkin 16k wasn't remotely louder then any other pickup. Think it was a Dimarzio PAF type.

Sounds like a Super Distortion?


I got an X2N / Super 2 set to put into my old Epiphone Les Paul, and put it up against my Gibson with stock BurstBucker 3 and '57 Classic.

As expected, the X2N was much louder (but darker) than the BurstBucker 3. But - the Super 2 was very clear and bright on top of being loud. It was like taking blankets off my amp.

I am not sure if the output is high enough for you, but what about Gibson Dirty Fingers? Among less known pickup brands you could also consider Tesla Plasma-3 (Alnico 5 with DCR up to 23 kOhm) or neodymium magnet-based Entwistle HDN or Dark Star-ND.
