Hollowbody question

Every now and then I'm tempted by the idea of a hollowbody or semi-hollow. I tried an Ibanez Artcore and it was pretty cool, especially the neck ; I like the Rickenbacker sound, but I didn't like the feel of the only Ricky copy I've had the chance to play. A Gretsch copy would be another possibility. In terms of looks, though, I'd really prefer a thinline Tele, but I imagine that the smaller body and the single coil PUs means that it doesn't sound much like those other guitars. Is this so ? Could I mod it (with say a Filtertron in the neck position) to get closer ?

Re: Hollowbody question

I have an Epi Sheraton and a MIJ 69 Thinline. They are both different, but not that much. The tele is tighter and punchier, but still has a good amount of woodiness to its sound.

I currently have a PGn and a Hot Tele Lead and it can cover a lot of ground.

Re: Hollowbody question

Both Fender & Squire offer a thinline tele w/ buckers ( The squire is a SD-designed bucker).

I think that the Artcores are brilliant value for money, but the pups are a must-replace.

If you're here, the odds are that you're going to mod a guitar anyway, so why not just plan on doing so ?
