Holy grail reverb. Sounds same on Hall and Spring?q

I got one the other day and it sounds the same on both the hall and spring settings. I also don't like the fact that there is a background ghost reverb noise on all settings that just doesn't go away for quite a while. It has an incredibly long tail and that is annoying. Anyone have any suggestions for me?

Sounds like it has a defect of some kind. On mine, the Hall and Spring settings a very different sounding, with the former sounding a lot fuller/deeper than the latter.

Take it back & get an H&K Replex

That doesn't sound right. Spring should sound like an amp, and Hall should sound like a stadium. I never noticed any ghosting, but the tail is pretty long, so the knob should be set fairly low.

These things are pretty quirky. I had a problem with mine (can't remember what it was~~) and taking it apart and putting it back together fixed it.
