Holy hell, what an expensive impulse buy.

But I've wanted one of these forever, so it's worth it. Plus, I've been feeling crappy lately, so how better to feel better than to buy something awesome?

It's in perfect functional condition and 9/10 cosmetic condition. I'm so happy. It will look amazing paired with my reverb unit.

Re: Holy hell, what an expensive impulse buy.

Yes, they're pretty damn expensive.

This one has a new tape installed, but no extras. I need to get some.

At the moment? I don't think any. In general, I know you need to keep the recording heads clean and keep good tape in the unit. Beyond that, I'm not sure. I don't know much about real tape units - like I said, it was an impulse buy.

I was actually going to spend around two grand on a Les Paul of some sort, but this seemed a more sensible purchase in most every way.

Congrats! Gear like that is both an awesome tool and an investment. You'll get your money back on that, if you take care of it.

From memory they're standard quarter inch [1/4] tape. Easy to make your own replacements. It's basically a tape loop.

Re: Holy hell, what an expensive impulse buy.

That's a crazy piece of gear these days man. Congrats.

Re: Holy hell, what an expensive impulse buy.

That is beyond fantastic. Congrats.

I think Tony Krank does replacement tapes for the space echo along with the EP.

Re: Holy hell, what an expensive impulse buy.

That is the find of the year on this board.

Re: Holy hell, what an expensive impulse buy.

a la Brian Setzer who has one of my favorite sounds (especially w/ the Stray Cats) with this unit, a Bassman, and a Gretsch!
Nice find!

Re: Holy hell, what an expensive impulse buy.

WOOOW EEEE. Clips clips clips. That's probably the nicest looking one I've seen

Re: Holy hell, what an expensive impulse buy.

Enjoy in good health and may your days get better.

For what it's worth, this thing definitely makes my days better. I really want to get some clips up. I'll see what I can do about that.

Re: Holy hell, what an expensive impulse buy.

Impulse buys are usually the coolest scores. If it takes you 3 minutes to make up your mind, your instinct is probably right.

I run across Space Echoes once in awhile on CL, but they're rarely in collector condition like that one.

I vaguely remember the guys from Judas Priest saying they used the Space Echo with their Marshalls.
