Holy Mother of 80's Metal Tone!

Aceman

I am your doctor of love!
So we were talking at band practice, and I said I was gonna get a Mooer Black Secret (Rat clone) for a mini-board incase I needed to go straight into something….

And the bass player says he has a Rat pedal. I ask can I borrow it. He says "Sure, but it is not a little one, it's a big one." I say no problem, I have the space. He says "No, it's one of the real big original ones."

At band practice he hands me this:

Sweet jeebus somebody tell me where I can get the little screws for the cover and a power adapter!!!!!!

Re: Holy Mother of 80's Metal Tone!

take it into the hardware store

try screws till one fits

if its Russian or Chinese expect it to have metric screws

I would guess they are 3mm but I have not scale to judge from

Re: Holy Mother of 80's Metal Tone!

wait I just saw one of these on GC Used
and it was missing the same two screws

Re: Holy Mother of 80's Metal Tone!

It appears people remove the screws for easy batter access.

This had electrical tape holding it closed

Re: Holy Mother of 80's Metal Tone!

here is my rat.. not as old as the one the op posted but still pretty old.. a 1987 rat 2

Re: Holy Mother of 80's Metal Tone!

No matter which version it is, a RAT is always indestructible and usable as a weapon of destruction.

Re: Holy Mother of 80's Metal Tone!

Nice. These V2 Rats (if you don't count the bud box version) were made from '81 to '83 and were the first to have the filter control (which decreases treble when turned counterclockwise).
Nothing a Rat can't do. Enjoy!

Re: Holy Mother of 80's Metal Tone!

A Rat 2 is all the RAt you need. I still recommend the Sol - everything a Rat does, and more.

Now - back to the OP

Those screws? Where to get???

WTF is the power source?

Re: Holy Mother of 80's Metal Tone!

Ace, are you looking for a functional replacement on these items, or a fully authentic restoration?

Heres your power supply http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/electro-harmonix-9v-power-supply#productDetail

any 1/8th inch tip positive 9 volt will work.

The screws... go to fricken ace hardware. Those were built before the whole metric thing in america and were built using off the shelf parts.

The Power Source is an annoyingly different one (until you get the correct one lol) and is what Edgecrusher posted.

The what?

If he is refering to the ProCo Rat Solo, then I will definitely second that suggestion. I have a Rat 2 and the Rat Solo...the Solo can get the Rat tones but is on steroids :headbang:

OH! Never tried that one. My main is still the modded You Dirty Rat... hmm I should give the Solo a try.
