Home made No Load tone pot question

when making a no load tone pot by scraping the carbon away, do you completely remove the carbon, or just scrape enough so that the wiper doesn't touch the carbon when the knob is on 10?

the tutorial on project guitar said "remove" the carbon, so i took that to mean the carbon is to be completly gone. so far i have just scraped enough carbon away that the wiper doesn't touch.

Sometimes the carbon is to thick to remove. I don't bother scraping it off. I just paint over it with a swipe or two of clear finger nail polish. Lew

well, my carbon isn't too thick to remove, and since i hae already scraped some off, should i go ahead and remove the rest of it or not?
