Tone Pot Taper

Just to be clear. No issue using a linear taper volume control. However an audio taper tone pot is a better choice to avoid the issue mentioned on Post #1.

I prefer Linear Volumes and Audio Tones

with one exception
my Gibson Green Swamp ash has a Master volume and tone
both have audio taper

and it does make it easier, on that guitar,
to roll back 1/4 turn on the volume to clean up a dirty tone and then roll back into a lead tone when needed

I like that

Just a little update here. I was able to put my DMM on the Tone pot, while it is still in the circuit. Not too sure how accurate the readings are in this scenario. However, it is definitely behaving like a 500K Linear taper. The full resistance reading was about 460K, and about halfway was about 230K. I'm now thinking of installing the Tone right after the individual volume controls, using a 500K Audio taper with a push-pull switch to disconnect it from the bridge position (if desired).

FWIW, I've landed on using 1 Meg Linear pots for all Volumes (no Treble Bleeds, wired Gibson '50s style), with a 250K Audio (No Load) for the Tone. Really happy with this setup! I am mildly curious if there would be any difference wiring the Tone control just after the pickup Volumes, as opposed to between the Master Volume and Output Jack... :scratchch
