Hot ****! DiMarzio Super D magnet in an Alt 8...

I spent some time today tinkering with these and the payoff is well worth it! The Ceramic in the Super D is thicker obviously, so you'll have to do some adjusting (having the coils raised to compensate it). The sound is quite killer for high gain distortion. Seems to have presence, mids and highs. Seems louder and brighter than the Alt 5, yet still tight sounding and doesn't get shrill. I'm feeling that it has less bass than with the A8 magnet, but it's no slouch. The chugging rhythm is still very together and doesn't flab out. Seems to have plenty of cut all-around. I'm playing through a SS vox pathfinder amp and an effects processor at home right now; the tube amp is at practice, so I won't know what it sounds like through a nice warm amp until wednesday, but so far, I'm blown away by it. It's very alive and not dark sounding. I really don't know how else to describe it right now...
