Hot fingerpickin' P90 blues

Well, when I say fingerpicking, I don't mean like Leo Kottke. I didn't use a pick, just grabbed the steel between bare flesh and let 'er rip.

P90 Les Paul with Duncan Vintage P90 neck, Custom P90 bridge into a 1983 Fender Super Champ. The amp was near cranked on the clean channel, so it just starts to get a little hair on it :D Mic'ed with an old audio-technica mic, into a Tascam Portastudio used only for the mixer section, into the PC. Reverb and delay added in the mix.

cool tune! i love that guitar! lol. great playing and nice tone!

Re: Hot fingerpickin' P90 blues

Thanks, xerxes :D I've reworked that guitar a bit since I recorded this. New pots, caps, and an Antiquity pickup to replace the Custom P90. It's a fun guitar to play.

I'll be out of town for a couple days so I won't be able to respond to any comments. Thanks for listening!

Dude that sounds absolutely fantastic! Im now even more convinced that ive gotta get me a p90 guitar, preferably gibson, of some sort. (not to mention some playing ability like that too ;) )

Great playing and tone bro :D

Re: Hot fingerpickin' P90 blues

Hey, thanks! That was the Custom P90 at the time. Actually, the clip runs likethis...Vintage neck to start all the way up to about the 1:58 mark, then switches to Custom bridge until about 2:40, switch to a 10 second part in the middle position, then back to the bridge to finish.

Thanks for listening!

some killer plucking going on!! Wish I could play that way. It gives such a nice jump on the note. Very nice tone too!

Re: Hot fingerpickin' P90 blues

Thanks guys! This was my first attempt at playing with no pick. I just went for it! I've done a couple things since, it's a very liberating experiance.
