Hot pickup for me

Hi all. I seek a hot bridge pickup with low end (high end is horrible...) for classic and modern heavy metal and hard rock. I think about Tone Zone, Pegasus and Custom 5. Which of them should I choose ?

My guitar- alder body and rosewood fingerboard.

You sound like an Invader type of guy to me. And that's a good thing. +it's great in maple/alder/rosewood (like a J-dinky)

I'd go for the Distortion or Dual Sound. Fat sounding and very gnarly too. The Tone Zone is fat sounding too but kinda too sweet and nice for metal.

Welcome to the forum!

I think the Pegasus is too modern sounding for classic metal, and the Custom 5 still has a lot of high end. I think the Custom or the 59/Custom Hybrid would be a better choice here, especially for classic metal and hard rock. Both are still tight enough for modern metal, though.

Classic metal? If that means pre-1990, I'd have to recommend (I hate to say it on SD forum) DiMarzio PAF Pro/Super Distortion combo. That was the choice of metal guitarists in the 80s. After 1990 is Duncan's reign.

Thank you for all reply. Invader seems to be great. For me it has no versatility, but really dark with strong mid. Super distortion is very nice too.For my ears Duncan distortion is similar to EMG 81 which I really hate...
