Hot Rail noise issue

Hi

I bought a Jackson Soloist with 2 Hot Rails and a JB bridge pickup.
The neck Hot Rails is making some buzz on it's own and when used with the middle pup.

I do get sound out of it, but cant get rid of the hum. I don't see any torn wires at the base, but am a little frightened to remove the ribbon and dig in, etc.
Any suggestions or do I have to have someone remove the ribbon and test each of the wires?
I've re-tinned and soldered the green & bare wires to the volume pot, re-soldered the black to the switch just to make sure the connections were good.

Not sure if it's worth paying for a repair (if I can't fix it) vs buying another used one.

Thoughts? Here's are a couple pics.

Re: Hot Rail noise issue

Lay a second ground wire from the baseplate wire already there to your pot/cavity.

Someone in a different group suggested re-wiring as this:
Black - Still hot
Green & Red taped off
White and bare wire connected and soldered to the volume pot as ground.

The other 2 pups are still wired as:
Black - hot
Red & White taped off
Green and bare wire connected and soldered to the volume pot as ground.

This has eliminated the noise and doesn't sound thin or out of phase when combined with the middle pup. I'm wondering if the pickup was wired wrong at the factory?
