Heya folks, first post and thread here in this forum, lookin foward to meeting y'all :).

I was wondering how many players have the hot rails pickups in their Strats or any other single-coil pickup guitar. If so, how you like it? Got any fav styles to play with the pickup? How do you adjust the pick up to suit your style of music? Thanks!

I have a Strat with a HRneck / SSL-6 Custom Flat / HRbridge setup and it's an amazingly versatile guitar. I can play any style on it - ska, Spaghetti Western themes, hard rock, metal, punk, even Klezmer.

I have one in the bridge of an MIM strat and it rocks! It's very mid-heavy, so it doesn't sound too good clean, but dirty it gets real 'in your face' and gets real punchy, too.

Re: Hot Rails, anyone?

Thanks Tony H, nice meeting you too!

As for the pickup, it does break up easily on clean setting, and it usually sounds very shrill on clean with that pup activated. Is this due to the tone controls or pot settings, or is just the amp/guitar settings affecting its tone?

PS: It does sound orgasmic on distortion and lead, makes you wanna hump your guitar!! :D *shot*

Re: Hot Rails, anyone?

I got one a few years back for my Cort Strat. I love it! Definately does the job for what I play, hardcore, punk. Awesome pickup! BTW, welcome!

Re: Hot Rails, anyone?

yea it does dirty up easily, but if u roll back the vol there should be no problem

Re: Hot Rails, anyone?

I agree with some of the above posts. The hot rails is great for crewd and lewd but I was not crazy about the clean tones I was getting in my strat and tele. I finally replaced them with a little 59 and was happy with it. I could almost get as mean (I'm not sure if it was guitar humping mean :D ) and I could also get nice clean tone.
