Hot Rails neck?

Hey guys, so I know how the HRb sounds like, but how's the neck? Muddy or not?

It can be muddy if you don't eq it just right. I've had it in a couple of guitars and it is very fat and loud. It's high output so legato runs are extremely easy.

it's my favorite neck pickup in a strat like guitar. it kills for lead work under high gain. actually works pretty well clean too for lead and chrods. however it can be boomy and muddy if you play high gain chrods with it. but if you use the neck mostly for lead work it's great!

Yep, I do a lot of lead work with my neck pickups. I've only got three guitars with single coil routes in the neck. Two have Hot Rails and one has a Cool Rails. They are both great for leads.

It's one of the best pickups for singing lead tones, but isn't particularly good for rhythm w/clean or gain.

The best thing you can do with a Hot Rails is to attach the red/white to a pullup pot or switch, so you can split the coils. Then, it works fine for rhythm.

I can't say enough about it in the neck of my jackson. I had never heard such a great sustaining singing lead tone until I bought this pup.

Its an absolutely fantastic neck lead pickup. I'm not so crazy about it for cleans though...You have to turn the bass WAY down on your amp...and if you've got any other neck pickups than the hot rails, its not gonna balance well in your rig for cleans. I tend to use the neck pickup a lot for jazzy clean chord progressions in some of my stuff...and w/ the hot rails neck it just turned to mud. Didn't try it split though, I'd like to get it in one of my guitars again.

I like the Hot Rails Neck for the middle position. It sounds awesome in the middle. I noodled around with it in the neck of a Charvel at a music store and I really liked there as well. In my HM Strat I use a Hot rails in the middle and a true single in the neck because I already have a neck HB in my Les Paul.

for lead work on the neck of a strat style guitar it rules !! i do like the cool rail as well but the hot rail in the neck is bad ass.

HRn is the ultimate neck pup for the hot rodded strat if you're a neck soloer. My favorite super strat setup is HR-Fender(m)-JB(b). That set rules!

So many good reviews... cool... I think I may get one today... And I don't need the cleans, cause I have the Ant Texas Hots in the mid which produce the best clean sound anyway imo.
