Hot Rod Deluxe users - pedals?

I tried my Analogman SD-1/808/Silver in front of a hot rod deluxe (not deville) yesterday, and found that it was lousy, very muffled sounding.

I've played this into a variety of other amps, mostly Peaveys, and it sounds great. It is a great pedal. Any idea why it would sound lousy into a Hot Rod Deluxe?

Very odd. I have a HRDx and it loves all three of my dirt boxes (DS-1, SD-1, Menatone Blue Collar).

Are you using the pedal with the clean channel or drive channel? I could see how it could get muddy with a pedal in front of the drive channel.

In front of the clean channel. Yeah, perhaps it is a bad model??? I know that the Hot Rod Deville sounds great with pedals, so I was a bit shocked. Switched it over to the Blues Deluxe and it sounded good. Put in front of my Peavey Classic 20 again and it sounded great.

Hot Rod Deville sounds great with pedals. I have seen one in action at a musicstore with pedals, and it rocked.

I use BD-2 Bluesdriver and it sound great through my HotRod Deluxe , but mostly i don't use any pedals when I play.
