Alrighty guys, after reading about it here at SD and playing one EVERY time I go to the music shop, I FINALLY dropped a few bills on a Hot Rod Deluxe. Man this thing is AWESOME!!! I am still trying to dial in the tones for the overdrive and boost channels, but the clean channel is just clear as a bell!!! With the reverb at a hair under 2, this thing sounds almost like the Pro-Reverb with the 50% on!!!!
My MXR Doubleshot sounds AMAZING through this as well. I had actually planned to get rid of it quickly before I purchased this amp. I have the top channel set for some heavy classic rock distortion, and the bottom channel is just a slightly overdriven boost. They both make the tubes in this thing SING!!!!! Best $350 I have ever spent!!!
I have to make a trip back to town tomorrow though..... I have to replace the "no load" tone pot in my strat since I installed a Hot Rails. It doesn't really compliment the effect very welll!!! I also have to pick up my rack tuner to do a new setup. I installed 11's on my strat, so it has a very warm tone with some brass bottoms. The setup is a little sharp in the higher registers, so I need to do the adjustment before tomorrow's gig.....
Wish me luck, and I'll keep ya posted on her first performance. She will be amped with a Beta 58, so she oughta sound real well!!!!!! Also, my wife is actually gonna make this gig, so I will try to get some pics of our stage presence!!!!
Cheers!
