Hot rodded Humbucker SH4 and SH2 set

Today I installed two sets, one was a Hot rodded Humbucker SH4 (JB)and SH2 (Jaz Model) set on an Epi LP and the other was an SH4 (JB) Bridge & SH1 (59) Neck on a seven string Dean Razorback.

The Jazz Model is much brighter than the 59, and is definitely a better set with the JB for playing metal! Who would’ve thought! The LP had more power, gunt, crunch, volume, etc.

Both sets were at the same distance from the strings and tested on the same amp with the same setting.

You think that was because the SH4 and SH2 were sold as a set, or that the SH4 and SH1 were for seven strings, or the guitars themselves?

the guitar makes the sound, pickups are just transductors, kinda like microphones... so in this case the axe makes the biggest difference

Yeah, could be, maybe I should try the Arties deMud-Mod on the 59 to fix the boominess. Or atleast raise the screws and lower the pup, never tried to move the screws on a bucker, is that dangerous?

I have the Hot Rodded Humbucker set in my Les Paul Classic, these pups sound amazingly nice in this guitar!

Re: Hot rodded Humbucker SH4 and SH2 set

If you bought the pickups new, you could call Customer Service and see about exchanging the 59n for another Jazz N.

If two guitars have JB bridges, and one sounds better than the other, it's definitely your guitar. But both those models have fairly cheap pots, switches, and jacks. Eventually, upgrade those.

The guitar is to hold the pickups in place on an electric guitar......

Yeah, the Pickups are just microphones, I know! What surprises me is that I expected this guitar to have a better acustic tone than an Epiphone http://www.gearhounds.com/dean-dime...ric-guitar-shown-in-classic-black-yellow.aspx

I had to change the pots on the Dean, since it had EMG´s, the 59 may not sound as good as the Jazz Model but it sounds WAAAAY better than the EMG, as for the JB, well; better yet!

EMG´S 81 & 85 are ok but their 7 string pups are the lamest peices of garbage I have heard in a long time.

Re: Hot rodded Humbucker SH4 and SH2 set

Today I pluged the Razorback into a Randall instead of a Marshall and the 59 was not muddy at all! I couldn´t compare it to the Epi since I gave the Epi to the owner, the Razorback is mine, but the Razorback sounded kick##s.
