had a jb/jazz in a 80's mij comtemporary strat. liked the jazz and jb when combined in both normal and split. the jazz is a killer in the neck but i did not fancy the jb on its own. too much high mids for my taste. i swap it out for a custom and i am much happier now.

I voted for "Had it and liked it" with a caveat. I had it in an alder body guitar and used 250k pots.

I've had that combo in several guitars. It's great, depending on guitar, amp, and taste. To me, it just sounds like ROCK AND ROLL. When I imagine the archetypal Rock Star, his rig looks something like this:
Cherry burst Les Paul
guitar loaded with JB/Jazz
cranked up Marshall
skin tight leather pants
smoke machine
mood lighting
That's rock - anything else is a variation on the theme.
Anyone that plays rock or one of its children (metal, jam bands, whatever) should have a guitar with a JB/Jazz combo. And whatever pots you need to make it sound good! Even if you never play it, you should have it!!
I don't have one at the moment... but it's on my dream wish list, that's for sure.

I put them in my Wasburn Idol... I am very happy with them, but I have to say that I rarely set the switch to neck or bridge - generally always playing the middle position. For some reason, though I really like the blended sound, alone, they both seem weak. Maybe I need to play with the EQ.

I've often thought Seymour's tone on his Tele-Gib sounded a lot like Albert Collins' tone.

I have only ever played a JB in the bridge of a Strat. I don't think it had much character to be honest. It just sounded plain, without being meaty or anything. I really can understand the appeal of it though, it's a solid pup that gets the job the done.

have it n my strat sound wonderfull with full gain on
lots a bass and very chunky sounds
you just gotta get used to the high eend ...after that its addicting

I'm not a fan of top-heavy pickups in general so I don't like the Jazz. I prefer a Seth or an Alnico 2 Pro.
Have not tried a JB but if it's also top-heavy as folks say, then I wouldn't like it either. To seal the deal, be it known that I am a fan of the CC, C3, C8.
So you can see I prefer warm pickups with buttery to plump mids but still with an articulate sparkling top end.
