I want to upgrade my classic stack for my telecaster to something a little hotter and something with better sustain. I am leaning twards a SD Hot Stack but just wondering if any of you guys have ever used one. I am also thinking about a lil 59, or maybe a lil JB. I play a lot of hard rock and blues rock. I really prefer the pickup to be a stack or mini humbucker. Thanks for your help!

Re: Hot Stack for tele?? or lil 59?

The only pickup I can honestly speak of is the LIL59 in the bridge of my TELE!
I too wanted a bit more WOOF in the bridge. This was my first venture into the world of Lil HB's I was very skeptical at first thinking there was no way this little PUP could put out a truly BIG sound........
Well I popped it in, had my Tech wire it all up..... And WOW!!! I love the sweat warm tone I get. It's not a high output PUP, but I subscribe to the get your gain from the amp theory's.
The tone is surprisingly complex yet full and sweet. It turned my twang box into a real live rocker!!!
I have the Lil JB in my strat, I don't like it nearly as much, if fact i'm saving my penny's to go back to a true SC in that one. Just too loud, didnt balance well with the standard SC's in the neck N middle.
I've never used the hot stacks so I can't really help you there.
But if you want harder Rock n Blues from a tele, I would without hesitation recommend the LIL 59

Good luck with you tone search!!!
Peace!!!

I have a hotstock, It maintains tele sound while givin some great bite. honestly though I can just roll back the volume a bit on it and get classic tele sounds. Its a great pickup.
