Hot Stack in the middle wiring question

Hi,

SD website recommends to wire Hot Stack pickup in the middle position is split mode, which can be seen here:

https://www.seymourduncan.com/wirin...eck-sch,middle-stk,bridge-sch,1-volume,2-tone.

On the other hand, three Hot Stacks are recommended to be wired in full mode: https://www.seymourduncan.com/wirin...le-stk,bridge-stk,1-volume,2-tone,5-way-blade

What's there might be the reason for split wiring? in the first case? Is there big diffence of Stack's sound in full and split modes?

Thanks

Re: Hot Stack in the middle wiring question

I don’t see the first one being in split mode.

There’s no reason to do that, and stacks are louder when split. Plus it would hum.

I might do split mode if it was combining with another coil of another pickup (and the middle was rw/rp). Otherwise, I'd just leave it full.

Yes, but people do that to hum cancel the pickups. And these are already hum canceling.

I always found that splitting humbuckers ends up sounding thin and weak.
