Hotcake. Glad!

Played in youth today with a somewhat small team, bassist, acoustic guitarist, myself and drummer.

I must admit, we nailed it today. It sounded great and we hit it in terms of our focus. I played my new pedal board for the first time and i was really blown away. I was running my MIA Tele with Ants through my board into my JTM30. My main star was the hotcake! It was amazing. I find that i was NEVER off, i really controlled everything with my volume, which i don't normally do, but it was great! That coupled with the Fulltone Trem and the DD20 was just perfect for me, i didnt even use my other like 6 pedals. Hahaha.

One glitch though, my tele volume knob loosened and i had to take it off. I was SO lost when that happened. It's a problem that's been reoccuring and i've posted on how to fix it. Should i glue it?

Anyway, hotcake.... my saviour... totally amazing.

You're referring to the Crowther Hot Cake, yes? How'd you have the knobs set on that pedal? Were you using it as a boost or for drive?

does the knob have a screw or does it just press fit on

Good point. If it's the press-on kind, you can wrap a small piece of thread around the pot, and push the knob back on. It should stay tighter that way. Another option is to wedge a flathead screwdriver in the post's slot to widen it slightly. If you go this route, be very careful not to bend the post so much that it snaps.

Yeh that's the one, the crowther audio. Uhh. i had it as a drive. Ummm i have it all essentially 12 oclock but a bit of presence. When i had vol at 7-8 it just really added depth to my cleans when i was plucking. And when i added the trem, it was just a really nice warm slightly driven clean. It was perfect for that time and place. I was really really impressed with what was coming out the amp. The hotcake gets slightly fuzzy when you turn the drive up which is great and is what i was using my Tweak Fuzz for, combining with my FD2 to get that fuzz/drive. I can get it on the hotcake so i sold the tweak fuzz hahaha.

Um it screws on, but it just keeps getting loose. Esp cause I'm riding my volume knob a lot, it loosens a lot faster. What can i do to make it stay? The tone knob has NEVER loosened. It's really tight.

That's a nice board you've got there. I have a Hot Cake also, and I tend to use it as an overdrive. Setting the drive past about 2:00 makes things get pretty hairy, which is great for the right situation. I'll have to try it out with the guitar volume down a bit.

It screws on? Meaning it has a tiny screw on the side, like a dome knob? Or do you mean it actually screws onto the pole of the potentiometer?

Re: Hotcake. Glad!

im assuming he means the tiny screw. if thats the case a tiny drop of loctite will help. i use my volume and tone controls all the time and i seldom have any issues with them getting loose

Re: Hotcake. Glad!

I try to align the set screw with the slot in the post so it creates a wedge when you tighten it. If not, you're just pushing the slot closed and it will loosen up.

very true

Re: Hotcake. Glad!

:S Theres no slot in the post. :S
I use my vol and tone a fair bit as well, but only the volumes loosened up. Whats loctite. Is that superglue. :S
