Hotrails/Cool-rails for Jaguar

Okie people, i've decided to Seymourize my Jaguar. I have a JB in my SG, and i want something similiar to the JB, for it's crunch but without the loose bottom-end...Is the Hotrails the way to go? And also, does anyone know how it'll sound in a Jaguar? Also, does anyone have experience with the cool-rails in the Jaguar?? I picked the two, for versatility..the capability to do screaming distortion, and pop-rock... Let me know what you guys think :-).

...just remember.

That if you really want it to sound like a JB Jr. would normally, you have to switch the pots for 250ks. Because that's what rails are formulated for. But if you leave in the 1 meg jag pots, you still might get some cool sounds.

I have a friend with a lil 59 in his, he didn't change the pots, it sounds ok. For a humbucker. But last I heard he wanted to switch the single coils back in, for that single coil goodness ;)

(even though putting HBs in a Jag is totally against everything I stand for :laugh2:)

I put two SJAG-3 quarter-pound in mine, with the same pots, caps, and switches.

err... or, hotrails I guess. Same thing, they were meant to be able to just switch into strats.

Stratman... you need to post pics of your Jag :D

Personally I'd leave the 1megs in, or at least only go down to 500ks, as LesStrat says... retain some of the surfy Jag brightness...

But specially formulated Jag pickups like QPs are meant to deal with the 1 meg pots...

(I again amend that the only change I'd make to a Jag to prepare it for high gain is get a better amp, and pot the pickups. Or if yours is an AVRI, you don't need to pot the pickups ;))
