Hotter telecaster neck pickup

Hi there,

Looking for a hotter neck pickup for a Telecaster, currently using a Fender Tex Mex pickup in the neck but wanting some with more mids and little more output. Going to be playing clean too so not looking for anything screaming hot or really muddy. Matching with a Dimarzio Pre B1 in the bridge. Looking to spend not much more than $100.

Thanks!

What is the routing like under the pickguard? I have a TV Jones classic + in the neck of one Tele and a Pearly Gates in the other. A humbucker will give you a lot more options.

hot tele neck pups are tough since the form factor is limiting. the le brea might suit your needs, the lari basilio neck looks great too but i havent tried it.

i love a firebird pup in the neck of a tele if you are open to other suggestions

The routing is big enough to fit a standard sized humbucker but I think I want to stay single coils. Thinking about maybe trying a P90 but I am somewhat attached to the pickguard since it has some custom artwork on it. If I can't find any good options in the standard form factor I'll just get a P90.

the hot nashville neck, i think, is just the vintage stack. which is a solid pup for sure

I had a Quarter Pound Tele Neck that I never got to install, LOL.

I bet it kicked ass, though. The bridge pickup from the set did.

Yeah, I'd guess the Quarter Pound Tele neck is one of the hottest Tele neck pickups. It doesn't sound particularly Tele-like, as the output increases, so do the lows and mids. To get a clearer sound with more output, you'd either need actives, or another type of pickup (Firebird, or PAF-type).
