Hottest single coil that still looks like a stock strat

Yeah it's tricky wording it sometimes. Let me simplify it. Because "single coil" does literally means one coil of course, but it's often used to describe the skinny pickup vs. the double side by side fat looking pickups. :duh:

So that's what I'm looking for. A skinny pickup that sounds like a fat one. and still LOOKS like a skinny vintage one.

Has Duncan did any custom shop stuff like this before. Is it possible?

I think the guys have given all the choices that sound good! There's probably some hotter ones that don't sound so good. As for the SP-43 it is a beauty! Like John said, it has alot of the tone of a P-90. It is not an overly bright sizzly ceramic magnet tone at all. It's perfect! Lew

I'm going to look into those Fralins. People are saying it's warm sounding and that's good news.

I have a Fender Nocaster with a brige pickup that reads 10K (back on the ohm thing!). But that sucker sounds hot and ballsy. I want a strat pickup that can do that.

That Nocaster gets incredibly close to the early VH tone! Scooped with a lot of balls and clarity on the top end. I want my '69 strat to get that kind of thing.

Try either the Twangbanger or the Fralin SP43 Lew and I mention...The SP43 is better though if you want a great combination of balls and nice clean tones with some warmth, yet you do still get some jangle..The 4th position tones are still very convincing and alot better than trying to split a bridge humbucker and trying to get a decent 4th position tone like you can with the SP43...Once you go humbucker, your split and 4th positions tones are a compromise..

If you want noiseless, the Bill Lawrence 290 L has about as much inductance as a PAF pickup. The Dimarzio Virtual Vintage Solo is even darker. BL pups have a very clear high end, though.

That's a very low output pickup. I know it's shocking. The resistance thing can be misleading.
+1

It's 23.72 and imo kind of warm & dark
