How are the Behringer stompboxes? (DC-2 content)

Yes, I'm kicking myself. I admit it - I never should have sold my Boss DC-2. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm SORRY.

Yeah I'm missing that sound, and trying to find a DC-2 to buy, but not many owners are willing let them go.

I see there's a cheapie Behinger clone - the CC300 Chorus Space-C. Has anybody tried one?

What about the Behringer pedals in general? Reasonably durable, or stomp-it-once-and-it's-trashed junk?

after spending time working as an accessories dept. manager at Guitar Center (probably the biggest Behringer dealer/pusher), I could not in good conscience recommend any of their amps, effects, or pro sound gear. None of it is made well and returns/failures were frequent.

I'm not a gear snob and I can respect not wanting to drop lots of cash on certain things, but I'd recommend looking for a used DC-2 online.

wow . . . didn't know they had become that scarce

have you tried a Fulltone Choral Flanger? not cheap, but they're made well

maybe just get the Behringer and see if anybody has made a decent clone of the DC-2 PCB board that you can stuff in the Behringer case . . .

This is weird... the only CC300's available on eBay are offshore; Australia, Great Britain, Germany. NONE in the States.

real DC-2's are rare and getting more rare plus the prices are hanging strong at 200+ plus no other chorus pedal sounds like that...I get it on good report that the Berringer actually sounds farily close (i've not tried it myself) but I was told that the buffer is not as good and it has less headroom plus it is made of plastic...not sure how many times it'll hold up to being stomped on

I own their Digital Delay, copying the Boss DD4. I can agree that it is the most poorly built pedal I've ever had. But the sound quality is fine for my taste. But it's a delay, not a modulation effect so i suppose its a different ballgame. If you're careful about stepping on it i'm sure it'll be fine.

look into other chorus pedals maybe. Is price an issue? If so go for the Behringer which can't cost more than 40 bucks. And if it sucks go for something else.

I just remembered that I did have to send back the first unit I got from an Ebay store. The thing was all kinds of dysfunctional. But the one I have now works great.

I use a tube screamer clone of theirs. No problems to speak of. I don't gig with it though. For $30, it's not a huge investment if you don't like it. Or was it $15? I don't remember.

If it's simply a matter of getting something on the cheap, the Nano series from EH is awesome, and the new Cool Cats from Danelectro are fantastic as well. Give 'em a shot before throwing your lunch money away on the plastic boxes.

if the chorus in question is the 80's 4 button preset Dimension C i have one that i found for $40 in a pawn shop about 7 years ago now... i too had sold my original one around 1990... or maybe it was just one i had borrowed for a while... can't remember... i did have a Super Chorus on my board in the 80's a lot, but sold that to a keyboard player after i saw Jeff Beck with a Rat and a Dimenision C on the Guitar Shop tour photos... i ended up going to using a BF2 Flanger instead of Chorus in the end... i liked the bigger sound of the Boss Flanger

But it is nice to have the DC2 back in my collection... i normally use the 2nd button setting from the left side of the pedal.. i did find that i could get that same sound from one of my late 90's Boss Chorus Essemblies or whatever that model is called... i can set that CE5 to sound just like the 2nd button preset on my DC2... at least to my ears they sound the same...

It took me about 2 months of waiting to land on a DC-2, but the patience paid off. I recall TGWIF talking about a forum member on The Gear Page who was building clones from hi-quality parts.

I bought a Behringer Tremelo pedal off a friend for a few bucks, and though it kind of did the tremelo effect well, it was pure signal rape. By that I mean that when I took it out of the signal chain and had guitar-->amp there was a quite noticeable difference in the quality of the sound.

I got mine a while ago in a guitar shop for about 175ish. Lucky catch I guess.

I'll admit that I don't really use it that often, but much like my keeley-modded CE-2, I'm a little afraid of letting it go :X.

If anyone who owns a DC-2 is willing to send me a few hi-res gut shots I'd be willing to take a crack at building a clone. I've been building and modding lots of pedals this year, and I'm up for a bigger challenge.

EDIT: I just saw the schematic for the DC-2 ... I think I'll pass. I'm not experienced enough to tackle something like this yet.

i suggest getting a alesis nano verb it has a by pass so you can put a switch on the floor to turn it on and off, only 99 bucks and its decent, i have 3, i think they are like 1/4rack size and i made a little tilt back floor rack one top of the other one for reverb ,one for delay and chorus took a old peavey foot pedal and made by pass switches out of it. works great. good sound. i bought mine used i got like 160 bucks in them.

agreed. I own the Nano Clone chorus and I love the simplicity of it. There is much negative critique of it though. I'll save you the reviews and tell you. When engaged there is a very noticeable volume drop, and the pedal is a little noisy. Thats really all. The effects sounds great to my ears. The volume drop doesn't really bother me much because i usually use a chorus for rhythm, riffs, and chords. And the noise isn't really an issue to me either. I'm used to it from playing a strat.

I got it for 20 used from Ebay, but in perfect condition. Thats really the only reason I got it. Such a great deal.

This isn't a case of needing a cheap chorus - I already have a CE-2 that I love, but I want a DC-2. Just wondering if the Behringer is a worth-it-for-the-price alternative.

I think I'll just keep looking and sniping.

there used to be 2 pawn shops in town and 1 shop never knew what was collectable or not... they sold the cheap junk for expensive prices and the expensive stuff for cheap.... type of store they would have a bottom of the barrel Squier for more then the new price yet have a USA Made Fender Or Gibson for $500... i miss that store
