How are the modern day US BC Rich Gunslingers??

I know they were great back in the 80s and I must say I enjoy my cheap reissue import alot! But they have some nice new US made ones out there. They are pretty pricey so Im wondering how they rate?
There are ones with an oil finished mahog body and gun oiled neck that have my attention. Has orig floyd, Duncan distortion bridge, TB4 neck.

Opinions??

The oiled mahogany ones, I believe, are a Music Zoo exclusive. They just lowered the prices to $999, which is a great deal, considering the Charvel natural series they were selling went for double that amount, with almost the same specs. USA made.

I think the BCRs just aren't selling- they recently lowered the prices on the Kerry King Vs as well.

Yep yep! They were $2k which is insane IMO. But $999 Is less than an LTD elite and a host of others.

What I can say is the owner of MZ- Tommy - works very closely with the manufacturers on these limited runs, picking out the best pieces of wood- you can even pick out exactly which guitar from their web site you want. I live near them, and the store is complete eye candy, and everything immaculately maintained, with every guitar being very playable and set up

Re: How are the modern day US BC Rich Gunslingers??

Yeah, Ive never personally met Tommy, but have seen interviews and vids and stuff and know he is a total 80s metal Ho like myself and has the clout to get manufacturer's to do these special things.. I also love the limit Jackson they have with the smaller headstock and stuff. I prefer the purple gunslinger they had, but I cant do anything in that price. I shouldnt do anything AT ALL.. but for 9bills. plus it already has Duncans and all. oiled mahog should be a different tone than normal too

Re: How are the modern day US BC Rich Gunslingers??

I remember the original gunslingers had mahogany bodies.. The lower level imports have alder or basswood bodies, so these oiled ones are more accurate

Re: How are the modern day US BC Rich Gunslingers??

hmmm true.. I had forgotten.. OMG.. Im getting old.. Im starting to forget the 80s.. !$!#@#!@ Funny, I forgot the 90s years ago...

this thing should crush with a distortion in the bridge.. never played JB neck tho.

All I need now is $998. I have a buck in change in my pocket..

Re: How are the modern day US BC Rich Gunslingers??

Go cheap. That guitar isn't about tone, it's about attitude and a JB w/ a healthy dose of chops!

Re: How are the modern day US BC Rich Gunslingers??

Do you recall what they were askin for the Rich's before the price drop? i know the purple one I really want is going for $2500. no way..

Gonna have to go some distance to replace my Charvels as my top dogs..

Last time I saw them they were going for $1399... There's a site that seems to have the original price before that... $2999- and that's store price, not list- 2 other sites still have it listed for $2299 with a maple fingerboard. I was honestly eyeing this guitar before I got my EVH Striped

Re: How are the modern day US BC Rich Gunslingers??

gots one on layaway with half down.. :) Gotta sell some stuff ASAP now!! I figure for this price, I have to try it. if it doesnt roll my rocks, Ill turn it over. I really like my cheap import one.
