What's interesting is that the Wolf pickups actually measure around 14k, while the EBMM pups measure around 17k.
For whatever reason, the Wolf pickups have less mids, and more high-end. It's smooth high-end, but it's MORE high-end, nonetheless. Those pickups "quack", but the EBMMs don't.
One thing that both pickups have in common, is that there really isn't any "offensive" frequency in either of them, which I suppose is a trademark of Eddie's sound. I'm personally bothered by the lack of clarity on them, particularly when trying to hear ringing harmonics dance off of each other when playing chords, but that's me. I don't care for the (unmodded) 5150 anymore either.
I don't care for the Wolf pickups anymore, nor do I care for the EBMM pickups in either of my Ernie Balls. I need to shut my mouth and switch. Gotta get higher frets first.
But I have to say, neither pickup sounds harsh or offensive, which is the one constant in Eddie's tone.
