Anyone recall the video of Herman playing his PRS a couple years ago, and mid-performance the neck suddenly came off? He should stick with Ibanez.
Omg, now I can't unsee the fleshlight jack socket :lmao:. {/QUOTE]
Damn....Now I'm thinking "maybe it's not that cool after all" :lmao:
The reason they no doubt extended that upper horn is to help with the weight distribution, and having the guitar thicker in the middle. I expect the balance would be fine.
The other interesting nod to Ibanez is the Backstop-like trem setter. Maybe aside from Vai, Herman Li is like the only guy who uses these things. Not surprising though, since in his previous Ibanez sigs, the Edge Zero was designed with a similar-in-principle system, you could set it to allow for double stops etc.
Anyway, it's interesting to wonder where they're going with this. Usually, the really expensive guitars in the market these days tend to be aimed at boomers, who are more likely to have the money, so the kinds of guitars we see being made/sold reflect that - classic stuff associated with the old gods of guitar. Dragonforce is a band that younger folks are more likely to be into - would they be prepared/able to spend this much on this PRS? When he was with Ibanez, Herman had a Fujigen and Indo level model; the other guitarist's Iceman was always Indo. A lot of the younger Ibanez artists also tend havetheir signatures as Indo onlyto keep the price down. Perhaps then, if there's appetite for this PRS, there will be more affordable versions.
The PRS crowd tends to be more uhm ......"mature" & "intellectual". You would'nt think they'd be into Dragonforce/Herman Li much..
If they had a regular production Indo model model or something I'd still get one to see how it stands up against the original deal.
Though gotta say, looks wise I much prefer Sabre's ..even more so now after what was just pointed out :laugh2:
"More wood, heh heh" :lmao:
If you think about other thin-bodied guitars like the Ibanez S-series, they often have to use those annoying barrel jacks. This looks like a way to be able to use a regular jack, which is probably a better choice when touring and knocking your guitar around intentionally like Li does.
I just can't believe something this ugly (fancy tops and finish aside) costs so much and that so many people will snatch these up, no doubt!

Ah you guys are ruining that carved jack for me. Dammit. I appreciated it as a cool woodworking thing... the one thing I actually thought was neat and interesting about this guitar... and now it's a cucumber in a sock. Thanks much.
he actually said he broke the one in the video on purpose...

I wouldn't say that it's hideous, but I would prefer a body with a bit more meat on it.
And I only paid $700 for what was supposed to be the Sam Totman signature Ibanez, that is until he decided to go with a different brand. And I'm perfectly satisfied with that.
