How are you guys packing up your pedal boards?

I know most every one uses velcro to hold the pedals to the board but is that it when its time to transport it? I mean my SKB case has a nice lock on cover but there is a few inches between the cover and some of the pedals. I was thinking of filling the cover with foam to push against the pedals when it was on. I'm just imagining some of the bigger pedals coming loose and banging around when the case is carried around like a suit case.

Re: How are you guys packing up your pedal boards?

i made my own board out of a piece of plywood and i used Velcro straps sold at Home Depot on a role to hold the pedals in place..... The Velcro straping roll has both parts of the velcro on either side of the strap.... i screwed the velcro to the wood and just warp the strap around.... it holds fairly well but with a good hit the straps will come undone so the foam idea you have in the lid would work well as well...

Home Depot sells rolls of industrial strength velcro- about $30 a roll. Use that stuff- much better than what comes with pedalboards- it's alot stronger and your pedals will go nowhere.

The foam idea sounds good though, since I have the same space under my SKB cover

My set-up is a pine board with six TS9 sized pedals attached via velcro with a jumper to a GT-6. I transport it in a tool box that holds all the cables as well. It's a tight fit but that's a good thing as nothing bounces around.

Do you happen to know a website where you can buy these ones in smaller quantities? I have tried to look out for a site that could do this, and all I found was one store, and they would charge 25$ on every international order, regardlessly of the magnitude of the order.

I have purchased some of this here in Norway and they're great. It really make things fastened. However it's a little steep price here, so I'd like to see if there was possible to buy this from abroad..

I guess I got lucky, my Gator Gigbox Jr. came with a piece of foam!

my gator pedal tote comes with a nice nylon zip bag
seems a nice snug fit

Piece of foam works wonders, though with good velcro as others have mentioned, the pedals shouldn't be going anywhere

Doesn't hurt to spend a few bucks on foam just in case though. I know I'd have for some several hundred dollar pedals to get all banged up because the velcro failed when a $5 sheet of foam would of prevented the problem

Re: How are you guys packing up your pedal boards?

I dont have one to pack up,

Thank god!

Re: How are you guys packing up your pedal boards?

I just pick up my pedalboard and put it in the truck (it has velcro) if it has any reason to flip over then I need to re-evaluate my driving.

Mind you...I should make a lid for it

Re: How are you guys packing up your pedal boards?

i have a small pedal board i made after seeing Jeff Becks... it was a 10 inch piece of 1/2 wood with a Fuzz, and a Boss Demension C strapped to it.... that was cool little board that even fit in a guitar case if needed...

my larger board is more fun but i love the travel ease of the small 2 pedal board

Are you saying that you wrap the velcro over the top of the pedals? Just for transport or do they stay there? I'm thinking that could be tricky with some pedals.

Re: How are you guys packing up your pedal boards?

I just place it in the back of the car when we need to take it out. Its all held down with velcro. I could see if we were gigging a lot or touring we would need to do something better, but for now this works. I will eventually buy one with a cover.

Re: How are you guys packing up your pedal boards?

I had a case made up for my powered Warwick board. The outer shell is made of the same material as the old Ragone drum cases, so it can really take a beating but it's still very light. It's a very well travelled case, having been around Australia countless times, as well as Singapore, Shanghai in China and even a trip to Fiji for a corporate gig!
