Re: How can I slicken up a suede strap
That's a good one! I used to think that way. Then I jammed my left ring finger catching a football, and that last joint before the fingernail is now permanently bent down just a bit and will not bend up beyond "dead straight."
I used to play a B chord by barring my ring finger across the D-G-B strings. Those days are over. The only replacement technique that actually works is to use my pinky instead. I've tried everything recommended, and that's all I got. And in order to do that when standing and wearing a strap is to move the headstock upward, and I mean somewhat drastically. I'm not a stage performer, but I'll tell you what, that move gets thrown in there like I'm making a statement instead of compensating for inadequacies...!!!
I don't understand . . . why do you want your strap to slide around more? Is always having your instrument in exactly the right spot messing with your playing somehow?
