How crappy is this one?

Re: How crappy is this one?

Thats not an attenuator like you would want to use on a guitar rig. If you want a guitar rig attenuator get a Weber Mass and be done with it.

Thanks Dude, so for my 50watt AOR I need a 100watter right? Budget wise this one is the best price:

I am looking for an attenuator that I can have my dials set so when I kick it full throtle in the rehearsing studio I don't have to go back to the drawing board. Do these webers really change your settings from the ones you use when you play with out it. Thanks.

Re: How crappy is this one?

Negative Dr, you need this one https://taweber.powweb.com/weber/minimass.htm

You dont need 100 watter unless you dime your laney all the time. I have the older version of the 50 watt minimass and ive never had an issue. THe new one actually has the treble control on it, and has the newer housing. Only costs you $100, and i bought mine 2 years ago for $80 used i think.

Re: How crappy is this one?

Thanks Dude,
Well eventually I will be playing with a double-bass drummer, another guitarist and possibly keybordist on top of bass, so from my previou experience I would have to crank up(dime ??) so I wanna have some of my prefered tone structure before I hit that rehearsal day by tweaking the knobs at home, so based on whats written on the website I thought it would be 100watts, or is it still not the case?

" the amp may be capable of putting out as much as 50% more power than its rated clean power. Be aware of that when choosing an attenuator, because the idea of using an attenuator is to run the amp full blast into power tube distortion and then controlling the level going to the speaker. If you are going to dime a 50 watt amp, you should choose a 100 watt attenuator."

Re: How crappy is this one?

If you are gonna run a 50 watt amp pretty high on the volum most to all of the time save yourself a bit of trouble and get the 100 watt version, the 50 watter is pretty stout but I wouldn't run it with a 50 watt head cranked all the time. As for the tonal impact, there is some but you'll figure out how to compansate for it.

Good luck!

Re: How crappy is this one?

Just in case if I bought the wrong one for what ever are the "electronic" reasons, this part is still very confusing to me ... Thanks.

Re: How crappy is this one?

I assume you are concerned with the 50watt vs 100watt? Like what was said earlier, if you run your 50 watt with the volume around 8 or over, get the 100 watt model.

Re: How crappy is this one?

No, I've ordered a 100watter, I mean am not gonna blow up my amp by crank it up and than bringing it down with Mass for bedroom level volume?

Re: How crappy is this one?

It wont matter, if your amps gives from being cranked then it will. It wont be because of the mass unless it fails for some reason, which i strongly doubt. Ive had mine for 3 years now and use it 90% of the time.

Re: How crappy is this one?

ITS HERE !!!! Gorgeous little thing, those yellow chiken knobs look awesome on it, too bad I won't be able to start using it untill after the 17th :banghead: anyway, I've noticed that it also has a line out, does this mean that I can record my 50Watt Laney direct into pretty much anything and not destroying things because Mass will make it "in line" with soundboards, pro-tools, etc?

Re: How crappy is this one?

Right. You better know how to fine tune a direct out though, it sounds like garbage if you dont! I actually recorded my Laney direct out with my mass, into the comp and used impulse cab modelling. Sounds pretty good, but Im no pro.

Re: How crappy is this one?

Ok, this will all happen this weekend - my half stack in a living room. I did not buy the cord(s) from WebberMass, can anybody recomend somthing good price/quality wise from the evil GC for my Mass Lite ?
