Re: How D'Addario makes strings

That was cool!

Im tellin ya...as many times as I have tried to go to something else for whatever reason I always come back to D'Addario strings.

Re: How D'Addario makes strings

thanks for the pointer, lew

yeah, i have used them almost exclusively for 20+ yrs ... i tried a set of elixirs once or twice ... and i tried the ones that were a gift at SDUGF day ... but i just love the price/performance/consistency of my xl110s

Re: How D'Addario makes strings

I, too, have tried just about every string brand I can find. I even tried "Nashville Straights" once in the 70's or 80's. I have used only D'addarios for the last 10 years. They sound great and I've broken one string in ten years.

Re: How D'Addario makes strings

I'm often amazed at mass production.

I used Slinkies for years, but switched to DA, mainly because of the environmental packaging, which meant no corrosion.

Re: How D'Addario makes strings

I used to work for them as a wire tester in the manufacturing plant.

They made strings for a load of different vendors and they also made the equipment that the most of the rest of them used to make strings.

They were nice people too, I unfortunately am very sensitive to metal dust and got very ill working there.

Re: How D'Addario makes strings

I love D'Addario strings. $25 per 10 pack can't be beat at that quality.

Re: How D'Addario makes strings

I was surprised to see what WASN'T automated in that video. The tedious job of attaching the wound wire to the string and final "spooling" of the string before it went into the packages. Talk about jobs ripe for carpal tunnel.

Re: How D'Addario makes strings

If I could get stainless steel DAs in my city, I'd never play anything else. I love their packaging and players points too.

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking!!

I just mentioned on another thread that I've never even tried D'addarios .... might give 'em a chance. Thank's for the video, Lew.

1 string in ten years.................you obviously aren't playing much blues then.

Re: How D'Addario makes strings

I've used DA for a while now, and I've tried every other string, and I prefer the DAs. I have DRs on my guitar right now, but I'm not feeling them as much as DAs...I'll probably be switching back soon...

Re: How D'Addario makes strings

I'm a D'Addario user too. I've used just about every string there is including DR's and others. Never tried Elixers though. D'Addario gets 100% of my business.

Re: How D'Addario makes strings

I just switched to D'Addario because of their packaging, from Ernie Ball. I like them a lot, but I can't really tell the difference.

Me Too! I used to endorse GHS, and still love them. But D'Addarios have been the best, most consistant string I"ve ever used.

Re: How D'Addario makes strings

Other strings may have more colorful tones and adverts, but the DA companys' overall quality is second to none. 's why I use 'em.
