How do I get that great in-between tone with the M/B?

Hi all,

I own a MIM '50s Strat with SD SSL-1 N,M and DiMarzio HS-2 in bridge wired for single coil. I had to switch the leads of the HS-2 cuz it was out of phase with the SD.

My question is this: How do I get that great in-between tone with the M/B? Currently, I have the middle p/u a lil lower than the N and B p/us'. I get an awesome in-between tone with the N and M, but not so much with the M and B. I understand it's most likely tough for me to get that great tone being that the B and M are completely different p/us'. But, surely there is a way to get close with these two.

I look forward to some replies and advice. Thanks in advance. Oh, btw; how do I go about checking the value of the p/us, to see what "K" they have. Thanks!

the hs2 is made with really thin wire and isnt going to sound like a vintage strat pup. i think thats part of the trouble you are going to have no matter how you set the heights.

the only thing you can really do is play with the heights but i would start with the bridge. it probably not worth killing your great n/m tone to get a slightly better m/b tone

Hmm,

Well, that makes sense. Thanks Jeremy. Guess I gotta look for a great vintage type of bridge p/u now. :^P

Any suggestions? Looking for 100% vintage vibe with a bit of bite, not too hot though. Thanks in advance.
