How do I know when it is time to re oil an unfinished neck?

When do I know its time to re apply oil to the neck on my wolfgang? I emailed fender and all they said was it "Depends on how often you play." ....which helps me out zero. do I do it when the neck feels dry? do I do it after it loses its orange-brown tint? :smack::help:

Re: How do I know when it is time to re oil an unfinished neck?

It depends more on whether you want more of a paint like solid finish or raw wood. You don't have to do anything since debris from your body will replace the tru oil coming off. Raw wood shouldn't be a big concern.

Re-waxing is a bit of a different issue.

I keep my Axis with paint-like tru oil layers (incl. buffing) and my basses with almost nothing. Just feels right.

Man, leave your wolfgang alone, it is a new guitar, if the neck isn't fast enough for you, just buff it a little with plain automobile polish compound. BTW what happened with the locking nut? I examined some other theories/possibilities but nothing turned out so the conclusion is that that the nut needs the paper-super glue repair.

If you do a re-oil buff the living sht out of it and remember Tru oil takes about 2 weeks to really cure.

I glued a little slip of paper into the V groove of the B string slot and it took care of the problem

^^ Cool! Glad it worked! (maybe you should update the specific thread for the sake of completeness)
