Hmmm, I've seen the straps that attach to the headstock....that would be a last resort for me. Depending on the value of your acoustic you could go to a guitar store and buy a set of strap buttons and pre-drill a small hole I guess. I wouldn't do it on a valuable acoustic though.

Does it have an endpin on the butt of the guitar, or is there just nothing to attach to on either end?

I did it on a cheap ass acoustic I have. Best choice I could have ever made.

I can't speak for others, but if I've got an acoustic in my hands and need a strap, that means I'm playing the wrong kind of music on it.

I had strap buttons installed on my Don Musser acoustic. I never heard anyone say I ruined it's value (knock on wood :-)).

When I tried to put a strap on my new Epi LP-100, I noticed that the upper button was in the wrong place. The store said that, if I moved it, I would void the guitar's warranty.

Awesome.

If you're not too worried about the guitar, I'd put one on the back of where the neck joins the body... I hate the feel and the look of the ones that reach to the headstock... Might want to get them to do it at the store you go to... if you're doing it yourself make sure you pre-drill the hole before putting the screw in, and go slowly, no need to create a split

I did this with my Takamine about 8 years ago and it's never been a problem

Tying a strap to your headstock isn't going to hurt the neck at all, but most find it more comfortably balanced with a strap button on the treble side of the heel.
