How Do I Record with the PODxt through the PC?

I connected my PODxt to the computer using the USB cable, and I have all the Line 6 Programs and Audacity (to record), and I was wondering how exactly I could set my PODxt to be the recording device and record it through Audacity. Thanks in advance for the help!

Try this:

1. Open Control Panel and switch it to Classic view if you haven't already
2. Open Sounds and Multimedia
3. Select the Audio tab
4. In the drop-down for Sound Recording preferred device, select Line 6 PodXT
5. Click Ok
6. Close the Control Panel

The next time you open Audacity, it should automatically use the PodXT as the input device for your tracks.

Hope that helps.

Ok I got to the Audio Tab and Sound Recording, but it won't let me change the preference, it keeps it as "Realtek AC97 Audio" for some reason. How can I change this?

Does Line 6 PodXT appear in the list, or is the Realtek the only option available?

ltek is the only option..How do I add the PODxt?

Are you sure you have installed the PODxt drivers correctly? Have you been able to edit your tones on the computer through GuitarPort or Line6 Edit? If not, then you should go into Line6 Monkey and install the drivers. Then, you should be able to change the settings in Sound and Audio Devices. Also, if you don't want to make the PODxt your default recording device, you can just change the setting in Audacity under File > Preferences.

A, thank you for bringing up this wonderfully old thread.

B, yes, granted you have all the other right hardware to run PT, yes.

That said, if you're running PT, you already have some sort of sound interface that takes a line in signal, or has mic-pre's on it. Just plug the POD into the line in's!

Even if the drivers ARE installed correctly, PODxt is not gonna show up unless it is ON.

Further to this, you can ONLY use Digidesign hardware as an audio interface. The Pod will not function as an audio interface for ProTools.
