so how do you plug your amp into the wall (besides the obvious ha ha).. do you have a power strip that has surge protection and emi/rfi line conditioning.. maybe even ups (uninterruptible power supply) or power regeneration?

I'm thinking that instead of buying one of those expensive rack-mountable power conditioners for my PA rack stuff I'm going to get a good power strip with surge protection and emi-rfi line conditioning so that I can plug my amp into it easily as well

I was told here, that a good old tube amp will survive magnetic and other effects of a nuclear blast that othe electornics wont ....

Re: how do u protect your gear

Typically I buy power strips for the warranty and how much in return they'll offer if it doesn't hold up.

One of my fave stories was someone that bought a whole gaggle of power strips with fuses and such opened one up to find that the fuse didn't actually connect to anything.

Buy for how much you can get as a replacement if the worst should happen.

I agree 1000% with what Skarey said. I use a Furman power block for some stuff. For my Valvetronix amp, I use a good computer power strip that has extra filtering in it. Afterall, the amp has a tiny computer in it.

+1 on the power strip, I have two one that I run my amp out of and the other thats going on the pedal board I'm making.

At my Church the power on stage can be unstable due to the # of cables plugged in. I use a strip with a battery back up. The Battery back up smooths out the power fluations offers big time protection and best of all they are quite inexpensive ( I paid $40 for the one I have ).
