How do you feel about Godin guitars?

Re: How do you feel about Godin guitars?

Comparing a Progression to a Strat is like comparing a Rolls to a Ford. I was astonished at the built for ever quality of thing and it's sheer beauty. The finish will knock you sox off!

This makes me wonder what their Passion series is like. I loved the feel of the Progression!

I haven't owned one, but I tried a few out at a shop when I lived in Green Bay, WI. I thought they were quite decent.

I'm willing to bet like butter. I seem to remember seeing some sort of interview with Robert Godin and how the Passion was his baby.

I saw a video similar to this, probably even the same one, and he was quite pleased with those guitars. They are sure lovely and I love the atypical tone woods (at least for electric guitars); it makes me wonder how resonant these guitars are! I have grown to love a bit flatter scale than they offer and wish they were closer to 14" than 12", but I am pretty sure I could live with it. I plan on getting myself a graduation gift in a couple of years when I finish pharmacy school; I think I need to keep these in mind.

I haven't played many but the Godin Progression was amazing!

I'm really torn because my Progression is up for sale right now. Gonna miss that guitar.
It has a great bluesy tone, like one of the best Strats with a set of Texas Specials. With the Revoicer switch on, it has a perfect clucky, glassy pop song Strat tone.

The fretboard edges are nicely rounded, like a comfortable old guitar. The neck is a comfortable C shape, but a little flatter. Feels great.
The finish is a really cool Mary Kay blonde, translucent in the center, opaque around the edges.

The guitar is easily on par with guitars costing 3x what I paid.

Why sell it if you know you are going to miss it? I wanted a Progression for such a long time, but I found the Pacifica models by Yamaha from yesteryear and fell in love. My Pacifica guitars are the perfect blend of Strat and Ibanez.I would love to own a Passion at some point though, or an Icon!

Godin builds high quality axes right up there with Fender. The beauty of it all is they are less money.DSCI0467.jpg;)

Re: How do you feel about Godin guitars?

Old thread but I now own two Godins, the last one unexpectedly. I've been really wanting a Montreal Premiere for a while now. Maybe if I don't get killed on income tax.

The Montreal Premiere is one awesome guitar. I tried a few, and really like them.

Since posting in this old thread, I have acquired an older Artisan ST Signature and it is nothing short of fantastic. I would highly recommend Godin to anyone.

I've wanted a nice, thin line semi-hollow for a while, preferably a single cut which limits options compared to double cuts. Played a used Montreal at a Sam Ash a while back. Didn't have the money at that time, plus they wanted too much for it. Wanted one ever since. I will get one eventually.
