I am having a bit of a problem...i have an imported Jackson guitar with a flame-maple top thats painted in an orange-ish cherry sunburst type of finish. The "clear coat" and paint on it are very cheaply done and any small knock seems to take a chip of paint of the bloody thing. I'm wondering if there is a way to professionally strip the finish off without hurting the flame top. i want to have the guitar re-painted a different color and get a better clear coat put on. I want to get it done transparent red so you can still see the flame top. Also, what kind of a place would do that kind of work on a guitar, and how much would it cost? I'm resigned to the fact that it may be in my best interests to just get a new guitar, but i'd really rather not. Any comments or suggestions are highly appreciated.
