title says it all.

for those who dont know what the monkey cage effect is, its basically when you around your tunes to much and glance over things. for instance, when you first walk into a monkey cage, it stinks like sh*t. after a few minutes, you dont notice the smell as much. after a while longer, you dont notice the smell at all. now put that to music....

I've been working on one for a couple of weeks, but nothing's cohesive yet. I've spent my time working on the performance as far as getting my playing tight, & I've got a couple of interesting riffs down, but so far it sounds like four riffs strung together, not a song.

Walk away. You have to separate yourself from the music in some sense. Breathing some spiritual fresh air will allow you to smell everything when you walk back in the proverbial cage.

I also have a very limited circle of friends that I like to bounce ideas off of. I trust their opinions.

Add an entire zoo to the monkey cage. Myriad of aromas. All stink.

Use the opinion of someone you respect and trust.
