Just curious. I bought a trolley today because I finally got fed up with carrying my amp from the car to random places.

You guys?

Re: How do you transport your amp?

Have always been carrying it.. The amp normally resides in my church nowadays though.

Re: How do you transport your amp?

Your trolly probably weighs more than my amp.

I play a Blues JR. Does everything I need, and light as a feather.

Re: How do you transport your amp?

DRRI... it's a little heavy. I hate living on a 3rd floor apartment and dragging it up and down the stairs, but i'll never pull a muscle or throw out my back lifting it.

Re: How do you transport your amp?

68 Bassman and matching 2x12 cab here. The head is 50 lbs, the cab is about 80. The cab is also 40"x30".

Yeah, it's a monster.

I bet it sounds like sex though.

I use to gig a 50w head through a 2x12. Just became a pain in the *** to move around though, specially when flying out for tours. Sometimes I miss it, but it made no sense for us logistically.

One day I'll have another big ass amp though.

It absolutely does. Funny, it outpreforms my friend's Pre-500 Dual Rec that he runs into an old Sovtek 4x12 with Pre-Rola 200W speakers. My Bassman just sounds so clear and defined, which I think is what makes it so perfect for almost any pedal.

I've thought about getting something small like a Delxue Reverb, but I'm not sure if I can give up what having a big amp offers me. Maybe the solution is to get a combo cab for my Bassman and turn it into a combo with a powerful 12" speaker. You'd be able to get most to all of the benefits of the powerful amp, but still carry the whole thing in one hand.

That's freaking great.

I'm a big fan of Tuki padded covers. Lightweight, protective, easy to toss behind your amp, and nothing moves without having them on.

I'm on the first floor (which in Poland means the floor above ground level). My TSL601 weighs 55lb, which isn't so bad for that one floor, but all the meters of having to carry it to places add up. At least this way I hope to now be able to somehow put the majority of stuff on the trolley (namely gig bag, pedal board, amp, and sometimes guitar).

Re: How do you transport your amp?

Y'know weight is one of the biggest things that kept me from buying an AC30.
I'd be lying if I said that weight wasn't an issue.

a trolley helps to and from the car... but I'd need an elevator before I started lugging around anything bigger than my DRRI.

my next amp will almost surely be a head and cab format. I can take 2 lighter trips instead of one sweat-breaking trip and for me that's gold. I've always been able to get sounds I like from a 1x12 (even when I had a DSL50) and so if I get a Dual Terror or TH30, I'm probably getting a 1x12 there too.

Also, the car I'm using now (my brother's) is a 2002 328 Ci... not a lot of space for anything more than a 1x12... gotta figure in TONE, weight, and space. The item that fits all three categories is a winner!

Re: How do you transport your amp?

My main amp is a heavy beast and I use 1 of 3 beasty 4 x 12's fiitted with castors, so I put the amp on the cab and roll them as far as I can. I made my own foam covers which are lightweight and shock absorbent. Fortunately I have a big van to shift my stuff plus the PA.

+1. If you've got a 2x12 cab or bigger, a separate head makes transportation much easier.

Re: How do you transport your amp?

I carry them...combos are small and light most of the time however the speaker in my deluxe adds a bit of heft and my Super is one of the heaviest small amps I've ever had.

I am thinking hard about road cases for them and if I get 'em I'll get 'em with casters.

I did a gig Friday...3 flights of stairs plus 2 amps, a pedalboard, 5 guitars and a big stand wore me out before we hit the first note!

Re: How do you transport your amp?

30w head and 1x12 cab these days. They came with handles, so I carry them.

Re: How do you transport your amp?

I've got three combo amps with casters, and one small acoustic that is light to carry.
