I can only get the tone I want out of the Fulltone Clyde...that's what I use. I use it to shape notes...like a trumpet player might use a mute to shape notes and squeeze them out. I like the way Hendrix used a wah...that's kind of what I go for. I think it's really boring to just rock your foot and wah in time with the music...the way most use a wah. I use it to make my guitar talk. Lew

i dont use a wah, but would like on within the year, have a few things in line in front of that.....

however, if i got a wah, it would be for heavey wah use only.

I'll use it mainly with a lot of gain, to coax out a little feedback/harmonics. I'm not good enough to do a clean wah. That takes a lot of practice, skill and taste.

Also, a little wah goes a long way, IMO.

I use mine to keep the closet door from hitting the wall. Gives it that 'relic' look.

I used to use if for leads, I've heard The Edge do really cool things with it ....Elevation... :cool2:

But I gave up on it after a while. I don't like Disco.

sparingly

very well put.

i use it maybe for 1 or 2 fills in every 6 or so songs i play. throwing it on for 1 fill, riff, or whatever u want and really working it to twist and bend ur sound is what it is meant for. overuse sounds bad. i think wahs are an art, and it takes a long time to learn how to use one. im not even close.

I guess I mainly do two things with it. In a rock setting I occasionaly try to do the Vai thing where you use wah just to shape certain notes and give more color to your lines(sorta like what Lew was describing). Vai is a master of that. I also use it for funk/disco/porno type stuff, sometimes with an envelope filter. Great sounds but it takes some work to get everything in time and grooving....

Sometimes I use it to create different textures and flavors of sound, and to produce and control feedback. Other times I use it to give some color to solos & riffs, & to accent the high or low end, or I guess 'shape' a note or notes.

The Wah has many use's.... Listen to the way Hendrix used it
on "You got me floating" He is just pumping 1/4 notes with it
thru the whole song. And soloing you can really make yer
guitar scream on a 2 step bend when you press it down all the way. it maybe a little awkward at 1st but you'll get the hang of
it. All it really is,Is a tone knob you control with your foot. On the
Tips and Clips part of the Forum there's a Wah Wah thread. Check
it out,There;s some good playing on that. And as mentioned
in this thread, Use it sparingly.

I have had a Clyde Fulltone for about 1 1/2 years, although it is a great sounding pedal I am still struggling to figure out how to use it "properly". I really like the way the guitar player for Los Lonely Boys uses his but even he over does it. After several songs it is time to turn it off. The two classic wah tunes just have to be Voodoo CHile and WHite Room. My wah and slide stay at home.

I love abusing my bends with my wah. The tone I get is so huge and encompassing. It definitely helps add to the feel of a solo.

However, it's easily abused, which is why I am careful to not use it often. Maybe I should try something besides a Crybaby, that Teese RMC 3 is calling my name ;) (that and the Fulltone Clyde anyways)

Usually for leads, sometimes just for some crazy sounds during the verse while the rhythm plays some arpeggios or something. But, remember, never over-do a wah!!

Well, I don't use mine a lot...mainly on Hendrix or Godsmack tunes. Talk about opposite ends of the spectrum! Hendrix used his very tastefuly to add a lot of color....Tony Rombola just uses the hell out of it; I think he overdoes it about as much as Tom Morello & his Whammy !!!

Wah using is another dimension another art for the electric guitar...you should use it with different combinations to get new sounds or to shape the sounds...it really need very much practice though to syncronize your foot with the rhythm, bends and pick attacks...I have Jim Dunlop Crybaby and I use it with many variations...I make it cry with my bends and quack my muted rhythms then suddenly clear the mute for an high attack in treble...sometimes express my feelings within a passage...now put on your wah,set it to lowest level, crank up your amps eq settings to max,set gain levels to medium, select your neck pickup and select it single coil if you can then roll completely off your tone pot...and play 'Money For Nothing'...:14:

Sparingly, But I dont just rock on every note, I come up with a rythym with my foot and play it to the beat of the song, like playing a bass drum. It sounds much better and controlled IMO. Theres no set way to use a wah, just experiment with one and have a good time. I also use it as a secret weapon for harmonics, Get a switchless wah and when you play a harmonic, jump on it and see how she screams. ;) Hope that helped.
