How does a neck single coil sound in the bridge?

Has anyone tried placing a neck single coil in the bridge? Does it sound too weak?

I've got texas specials in the neck and middle position of my strat (ash/rosewood). Its a long story but I 'lost' my bridge pup, and i'm looking around for a replacement.

However, I've got a neck position Classic Stack sitting in another guitar, and I was wondering if that would work in the bridge of my strat?

Thanks!

I don't think there's any problem with using a neck pup in the bridge per se, but the CS is not a very powerful pup. It might be overpowered by the Texas Specials just by design.

Then again, I haven't heard TS's.

Have to agree with Artie but i would try the CS and see how it sounds.

Hey thanks for your advice guys. Yeah, I think you're right... even in the guitar its in now (in the neck), I feel that its not very hot. But I guess its worth a shot.

Basically, the first Stratocasters had all pickups the same (theoretically, if you neglect the unwanted differences in production) even without RW/RP. And I think Fenders still have all the pickups at least equally hot wound... so yeah... the bridge will just be a bit less powerful... but othe rthan that, there's no problem

The other thing I'm thinking of is putting the middle texas special in the bridge, and then dropping the classic stack into the middle... Do you think that would screw up my position 2 & 4 sounds?

Cool, didn't know that about fender pups... But Duncan bridge pups are slightly more overwound right?
