How does Alternative 8 sound like?

Hi All,

I would like to thank you all in advance for all your help and concern. I would like to replace my bridge SH4-JB with a more heavier sounding pickup on my Jackson Dinky DK2M (alder body, maple neck with maple fretboard). I came across with alternative 8 but there were no sound samples. Would someone be able to help me to define the sound of this pickup?

If you have any sound samples they would be greatly appreciated.

very heavy and warm. not muddy at all though. big and open for a pup that hot. a lot of bass and mids wit just enough highs to not be muffled.

How is the bottom end comparing it to a SH8-Invader or SH4-JB? Do you have any sound samples that you could provide any chance?

what metalmachine said. I had one for a while and loved it.

it's very responsive to what guitar it goes in.

put it in a Les Paul and it will crush like a sledgehammer
put it in an SG and it will rip like a chainsaw(in a good way!)
put it in that jackson or any other Alder or Ash guitar and it will do a nice combination of both. that's the only way I can put it in words.

it's an awesome pickup. i'm also loving the duncan SH-5 Custom..

Thank you Guys. I really like my SH4-JB actually but I have the same JB-Jazz configuration in my Jackson KE2 and I am looking for a little different sound for my DK2M. Alternative 8 seems to be a real good choice.

I will be waiting for some sound samples here in case someone has some.

i dont have any experience with the invader but the bottom is a lot more present and defined then in the jb

Had one and didn't care for it. A8 magnets have this mid frequency thing going on you either love or hate. I had the same thoughts when I installed an A8 into a Full Shred...

The alt 8 has a Very BIG sound. It like a tone zone but with more soul.. Very big low end and mids with smooth highs.. doesnt get muddy, but great for adding body to a thin bright guitar or just supercharging any axe..
