How does the Stra Bro 90 sound tapped?

Hey guys, i was wondering how the Stra Bro sounds in tapped mode. There seem to be no demos of it in any mode but full. Needed to get a versatile set of 3 single coils. So it does P-90ish sounds in full mode - but can i get surf-y or bluesy sounds tapped?

I plan to put it in a Dipinto Galaxie 4 (S-S-S-S configuration, offset body, jazzmaster trem, mahogany body, 25.5 inch scale).

Re: How does the Stra Bro 90 sound tapped?

To add to the specifics: will the tapped mode give me more chime when a single pickup is selected, and the quack/spankiness in the in-between positions?

Also, what would be a good hot single pickup to pair with the three, for the bridge - considering my guitar has 4 single coils? I need a warm, fat, chunky sound for doom/brutal riffs (think Sabbath with more gain and fuzz, and think the hard riffage section of Paranoid Android), and liquidy high gain but warm leads. I was considering the Dimarzio Super Distortion S or the Bareknuckle Cobra bridge, or a Lace Sensor Red. Any other suggestions?

very cool guitar, my buddy has one.

i like the stratbro90. two cool usable tones, doesnt nail a p90 tone or a vintage strat tone but there is one fat loud tone and one thinner brighter with less mids

Any clips, by any chance?

Also, what SD pickup would you say the tapped mode of the StraBro sounds closest to? So that i can have a better idea. Thanks for the quick response!

Re: How does the Stra Bro 90 sound tapped?

there isnt really anything that sounds all that close. its 7k worth of #43 wire with three alnico rods and three screws with little ceramic bars. it doesnt sound like a vintage strat pup, maybe sorta similar to a tele pup without a cover? i dont have clips or any way to record anything really. my gf moved into my house so everything is a mess and setting up the desktop and interface is no where near the top priority.

Yeah, i'm guessing this is the pickup people are most hesitant to buy - too out of the usual ballpark. What sort of music do you think the StraBro does best?

Re: How does the Stra Bro 90 sound tapped?

i play blues rock. they are very versatile, i usually use the tap for clean and full output for dirty but will use whatever setting suits me. i have it setup with a normal 5way, mast volume, master tone. the neck and bridge on a dpdt switch where the first tone pot would usually be and a push/pull on the tone pot to tap the middle and i find its a great setup for what i do
