my first thought when I heard the tone on that album was that it was a Tele. I was surprised that my ears were actually right, lol.
Jimmy Page was the master at getting LP-ish Tele tones. Many people think of teles as bright twangy guitars, but this simply isn't always the case. They can sound very thick and dirty when you want them to, even with vintage style single coils.
Plenty of people think that Led Zep 1 is a LP and are greatly surprised to find out that much or most of that album is a Telecaster and an old Supro amp. Just sayin'
