Re: How is everyone liking their Vox Night Trains??
I have the Lil' Night Train. It's very clearly limited in what its range of capabilities is, but it can still do a job as a practice amp at relatively low volume. The Bright mode is quite flexible and quieter, whilst the Fat mode provides a noticeable jump in both volume and is (as advertised) fatter. With the volume well up and the gain kept around 9 o'clock, you can get a very useable clean tone, but you can never quite get away from a very slight grainy aspect to the sound - you wouldn't call it breakup as such, and may just be a characteristic of the single 12AU7. It's always seemed to play nice with the pedals I've run into it, though without an effects loop and the ease with which you can push it into breakup once the gain knob is wound up more, modulation pedals can quickly lose their definition. Overall though, if you want a family/neighbour friendly option, it's a great way to go.
