Seriously, some like EV's take a **** long time to get their round sound. Hellatone made a whole buisness by taking Celestions and breaking them in.
Tone Tubbys take a long tiem break in I've heard. I think Eminence doesnt have too many break in issues.

Probably depends on a lot of factors, like brand, speaker cone material etc.
I used to play through a mate's Roland Cube 30 all the time, from the day he bought it in 2006 until now pretty much. The speaker sounded pretty harsh at first, but after a few weeks it seemed a little warmer and nicer to the ear.

No LOL. Just amp speakers in general. Seriously I don't know how someone could tell. I mean after playing an amp for some time you get used to the sound so I don't believe it. I mean I never played an amp and thought man it's finally broken in now. I seriously doubt anyone can tell the difference between a new V30 and a broken in one. But so much for my knowledge bro, that's why I ask
is it one of those 'will my amp sound better one day' posts?

It depends on the speaker and the various components---high power 12" and 15" speakers are going to take a while longer than low power 10" and 12". Just run Sunn (((O))) through them for a couple of days...and there's always the fabric softener or acetone trick.

I have heard that is kinda risky because it might overheat the voice coil if you put too much juice into it. I'd just get a good solid state power amp, and run sweeps and pink noise and musical stuff to loosen it up if I were to do such thing as breaking in.
I really haven't done any comparison of broken in speakers, as opposed to new ones, so I wouldn't be able to tell you the difference unless I were to hear them side by side.

I got the chance to compare side to side 2 fender blues deluxe reissues, non-modded. Mine was broken in, the other was not. There is a difference, as the broken is one seems more "organic", dynamic and warm. Just sounds kinda more polished.
I can wait for the black shaddow in my mesa to break in.

Speaker break-in does vary, but the sound of most speakers will change a little bit during after the first 10-50 hours of usage.
Don't expect a night and day change though. Expect a little change.
Speaking of V30's, I actually have an older V30 that is much darker than a newer still broken in V30. A WGS "Vintage" speaker (The predecessor to the Veteran by name only) that I have sounds somewhere in between the two real Celestions. The mid-hump or really mid-defecit in the WGS is fairly close to some of the real V30's, but I do find it a bit brighter.

It depends on the speaker...I'd say 30-40 or so hours is a good average but for example hemp cone speakers take much longer in my experience...I've seen those run 80-100 but by the same token some can take less time. If you've got the kind of ears that can hear the difference you'll notice the sound strat to open up and become a bit smoother on the top...if you never notice a difference thats cool too, you can use out of the box speakers and still be happy!

I've heard as little as 15 hrs. with some speakers. Some people do all kinds of things to break in their speakers. I just play through them. If you play regularly for either a couple of weeks or a couple of months, they will get broken in. But a lot of literature is varying, since many people are using "speaker break-in" to refer to very different factors.

Check out Scumback's. I dropped one in my Blues Jr. They claim to have a pre-aging process that eliminates much of that break-in factor.

24hrs of white-noise would do the trick on typical 30-100 watt speakers.
Higher power speakers like 12-15" Hi-FI EVs etc need allmost the 2-3 times.
I mostly crank the amp ,put a big foam infront of it ,and let the jack on the guitar side free.The "noise" is enough to break it in.One night of noise and you're done!

I didn't see the sound clips. Look like fantastic speakers. I don't know how good a British voiced speaker will do on a Soldano tho. This gets me thinking about those WGS speakers Ascension recommended. Until I started looking at them I kind of always thought of only Celestion, Eminence & Weber. This subject is worth looking into definitely.
