How many guitar players have a bass?

Re: How many guitar players have a bass?

I'm not a bass player but I do track the basslines for my own projects with a '90s Ibanez SR305DX. It has the active electronics ripped off, I prefer the pure sound of its passive pickups way more.

It comes in handy to do both. Mostly a guitar player but do the bass when I'm jamming with guys who either dont have a bassist or I'm the better option :)

Bass player first, guitar player only at home. 3x 5 strings, 2x 4 strings and 5 guitars. Avid Eleven Rack used for both guitar and bass amp models, going to EV ZLX12P top and EV Zxa1 sub: 1800w of thunder :)

Re: How many guitar players have a bass?

Picked up bass a few years ago. Always been interested being a rhythm guitarist. Picked up a cheap MIK Ibanez ATK at GC, and recently brought an American Standard Jazz bass. Now angling for an American Special P-Bass and I should be covered!

What about a Ric?

Re: How many guitar players have a bass?

Been playing guitar for 60 years and currently have two basses...my fav is a Jazz bass.

But I did play bass in a band in the SF Bay Area in the early 70s. I owned a Tele bass and a Ric 4001 (an amazing bass, incredible tone and I loved playing it).

I like the feel of the Jazz bass better than the Ric and it certainly doesn't skimp on tone either.

Re: How many guitar players have a bass?

I have four. But I've been the bassist in several bands over the decades and worked as a hired gun on bass too. So I sorta qualify as a bass player, even though I don't currently hold that role in a band and am primarily a guitarist.

:smokin:
I have a Squire made in Indonesia that ain't that shabby that I fixed that has been a pleasure
to play once I got the bow and twist out . Best $40.00 investment in a guitar I've made .

I also have a midi guitar set up that allows me to get radical with all kinds of bass sounds too .

This guitar [ Godin LGXSA ] gives acoustic as well as electric sounds .

Acoustic standup double bass , Mexican Guitarron , Synth's - many , in short , it's really nice ,
to many to mention .
:naughty:
Playing that Squire PBass really developed my hand/arm strength , after getting proficient
enough to play it my guitar(s) seem really effortless in comparison . I've set the action low
but no to low so I can't pop&slap the string to funk it down .

Re: How many guitar players have a bass?

I have always had a bass around, mostly for my recordings. I had an old 60's
Hagstrom for about 30 years, then I bought a brand new Squier which I sold,
a used Gretsch which I traded for a parts Strat. About a week ago I picked up an
Ibanez Gio Les Paul looking short scale bass....this thing is incredibly great so far.
It plays nice, set up easily, and sounds really good. I was shocked because it was
a $125 used bass.

Yep - some of the cheapest deals $'s wise can turn
out to become diamonds&pearls with a little TLC.
